One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to become more disciplined in my workflow. My mom always said that the more you live by your schedule, the more freedom you will have. Well…so much for keeping resolutions…I couldn’t wait for the ‘workflow’ to put some of Katie and Caleb’s images up on the blog earlier this month. But here are the rest as promised!

The Brown Bridal Show 2012

The Brown Bridal Show is probably one of my favorite annual events and this year it was outstanding. As much as I loved my own wedding, walking around a bridal show still makes me dream and imagine the endless possibilities. Ellen Fox and Jeri Payne coordinated the event and, as always, it was an incredible experience for both the vendors and the brides who attended. I must say that it really is great to be around such creative and talented professionals and they never seem to run out of ideas that inspire those of us with strong romantic sensibilities…..sigh!

I usually try to draft a complete blog post for each wedding, but I could not wait any longer to share a few of my favorites from Katie and Caleb’s wedding. If there is one element that I am passionate about, or that defines our style, it is finding creative and dramatic ways to use light. We have been shooting weddings for several years now and often find ourselves repeatedly visiting the same churches and venues. The challenge is to continue finding new perspective within the context of a location that we have previously photographed. I am blessed to work with a team of people who are artistically inspired and continually push me to a higher level. There will be more pictures on the way, so stay tuned.

Kaycee & Jeffrey Louisville Wedding

It seems impossible to me that 2011 is past and we are already heading into the third week of January. This month always manages to sneak by me and this year has been no exception. Perhaps it is because I am still coming out of my crazed December fog or I am gearing up and beginning to focus on the new year’s resolutions… who really knows. With that said, I make a conscious effort to enjoy each day and find a way to stay connected.

I have been anxious to share some of the photographs from Kaycee and Jeffrey’s beautiful wedding. (One of the wonderful November memories from this year!) The weather was mild, the church and reception venues were wonderful, and the bride was stunning…what more can I ask for!! It was a fun day for me because this couple comes from a long linage of friends, cousins and siblings that I have had the privileged to photograph over the last few years. So, needless to say I knew most of the bridal party already. Congrats to you both!! XO

Dates and times somehow seems to put things into perspective within the scope of my life and timeline of history in general. I have been blessed to know Christina Dilley (now Mrs. Wood) for several years now and if you should take the time to search the archives of this blog you would find her lovely senior pics back in 2009. (Okay, I will make it easy CLICK HERE!) Christina started working for us as an assistant during her senior year of high school and over the last couple of years has become a dear friend and an invaluable part of the business. Their December wedding was wonderful and it was so special to be a part of Nate and Christina’s big day. I only wish that she and her new husband (I love you too Nate!) would move back to Louisville, so we could shoot together more often. Hugs & kisses!!

Engagement sessions are so much fun! I love to have the opportunity to get to know my clients before the wedding, and I think that it makes the entire process seem more natural and relaxed on the big day. What I love about Abby and Alex is that they have a great time together…they are all laughs and smiles, and I know they will have a long and happy life together. We are so excited to shoot their wedding next year and work with the totally awesome Ellen Fox with ShaFox Events!

I love each of the weddings that I shoot, but I really must say that Brittany and Eli’s wedding was one of my favorite weddings of 2011. If I had to describe one thing that stood out to me about this couple it is that they are two of the warmest and caring people I have met. Even-though they are located in the DC area I came to their wedding feeling like we had been long time friends. Their wedding at the Olmsted was a beautiful blend of their Christian and Jewish faiths, and the party…WOW! A fantastic time was had by all. Congrats to you both!! XO

Winter is one of my favorite times for engagement sessions, and we have been blessed with a mild November for which I am truly thankful. There is something very romantic and special about this season and I love the atmosphere that surrounds the couple as they “cuddle up together, like two birds of a feather.” Sarah and Rob are delightful, and I loved Sarah even more when she broke out into a chorus of “Mele kaliki maka”…truly a kindred spirit. Their April wedding is just around the corner and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them and the wonderful team at Lauren Chitwood Events.
