There is nothing I love more than a garden wedding! The sweet charm and simplicity, combined with a Victorian flare made this day perfectly elegant. The planning, design and flowers were handled by Lauren Chitwood Events. Lauren and her team were amazing and despite the heat saw that every detail came together flawlessly. Stacy and Daniel were wonderful to work with and their love, respect and admiration for each other was evident throughout the day. We are currently working on the design for their gorgeous wedding album and I cannot wait to have their book printed. Best wishes to you both~

Holly & Jordan - Louisville Engagement Session

This has been an extremely hot summer! Hot brides, hot venues, hot sessions and HOT WEATHER. Our May and June brides have been great sports and despite the heat we have been so pleased with the images we have been able to produce for our clients. Of course we love the actual wedding day, but one of our favorite times with our clients is the engagement session. We can just hang out and have fun. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know eachother and develop a great working relationship before the wedding day arrives. When we start talking with our clients about the engagement session it is important to develop a concept for the look and feel of the session. We want our clients to open up and give us insight into their lives, their likes and preferences. The location and wardrobe selection sets the tone for the session and we are able to create a set of images that reflects the individual personalities of the couple we are working with.

Dear blog readers! I am so excited to resume a somewhat regular blogging schedule. We have been busy shooting so many fabulous brides, fantastic venues etc. Despite an extremely busy shooting schedule over the last six weeks we have managed to stay energized and push ourselves to create our best work ever. I am up to my elbows with editing at the moment, but I wanted to take a breather to say a quick hello and share an image from our wedding last Friday.

It is such a joy to work with the amazing and wonderful people who entrust me with the honor of capturing some of the most beautiful moments of their lives. This requires more than just owning a camera or even mastering the technical elements of lighting and exposure. There is a passion, love and understanding behind what I do and the images I create. My goal is to capture the essence of the person and the relationship they have with their loved ones. The way agroom looks at his bride, the smiles and tears on the faces of the joy filled parents. The weathered hands of a grandmother embracing her lovely young granddaughter - these are the moments I work to freeze in time. Weddings are a snapshot into the soul of a family, a new piece of your family history. I truly love an appreciate my clients and enjoy getting to know them on a level beyond that of a traditional wedding vendor.

‘Tis the season for shooting a ton of amazing engagement sessions. Our goal is to stay creative and fresh and the more frequently you shoot the harder it becomes to reinvent our selves and our work. Paul and I made it a point to find new locations, ideas and inspirations to kick off the 2010 season. We have had a great time working with such fabulous clients who are willing to go with the flow and the end result has been amazing.

Spring is always my favorite time of the year, and this year is no exception. I feel recharged, energized and feel inspired to create new and innovative work as the 2010 wedding season begins. It was a blast working with Chris and Amanda, not to mention that it was amazing to shoot on a day that was neither too hot or too cold as is often the case. They are an amazing couple and totally in love with each other. The photography was definitely one of their highest priorities and I am just thrilled with the images that we were able to capture. Adrian & Kim - Louisville Wedding

Drum roll please…. I am excited to share the highlights from Kim and Adrian’s fabulous winter wedding. The beautiful weather we enjoyed over the weekend made me forget that it was only a few weeks ago that we were buried under several inches of snow. My fingers are crossed and I am hopeful that spring is here to stay. Despite my preference for warmer weather, we did have a blast with Kim and Adrian as we trudged through the snow on their wedding day. They both serve in the air force and are the kindest and most genuine people you could hope to meet. Best wishes to you both~

“When he’s not just four”

My sincerest apologizes are extended to my faithful blog readers who have been sorely neglected of late. I took some time off after the holidays passed in order to focus my time, energy and resources on my darling little boys. It recently hit me how quickly children grow up and that the little moments that we give to them now will impact them for a lifetime. My sweet Nathan will be five this spring and I have absolutely no idea where the time has gone. I happened upon this poem in a book I was reading the other evening and it seemed more than appropriate to my experiences.

Now is the time to get things done…

wade in the water,

sit in the sun,

squish my toes in the mud by the door,

explore the world in a boy just four.

Now is the time to study books,

flowers, snails, how a cloud looks;

to ponder “up,”

where God sleeps nights,

why mosquitoes take such big bites.

Later there will be time to sew and clean,

paint the hall that soft new green,

to make new drapes,

refinish the floor -

Later on…when he’s not just four.

Jill & Kelly - Louisville Wedding

I decided to squeeze in one more post before all of the holiday festivities take over! My boys are out Christmas shopping and from the sounds of their scheming it sounds like I am in for a treat! I love surprises. Currently, I am at home patiently waiting for the scheduled Fed-EX delivery, but once that comes I hope to get out for a bit of holiday shopping myself. I am excited to wrap up my 2009 blogging the Jill and Kelly’s wedding. Jill picked up her album this morning so that is just an indication of where I am on my blogging these days. Their wedding was beautiful. We were so worried about the weather, but everything came together flawlessly. Due to the extreme amounts of rain we were a bit limited with our location choices, but we took our lemons and made lemonade. I was thrilled with the shots we were able to capture out in front of the church, and felt that we were able to document the the emotion and atmosphere of their day! Enjoy~
